We have a Kandinsky print over our dining room table. Because I am a visual learner and seasoned English teacher I have always been drawn to the story behind four people I see along with an unidentifiable animal. I also have loved the yellows spread throughout, varying from a burnt umber to a honey mustard hue and layers of lemon yellow. Today, I noticed the geometry my husband loves in Kandinsky’s work. For the first time, I see planes of checkered patterns, half-circles, black arcs, and overlapping four-sided figures. What I found interesting was my need for silence in order to concentrate; I had to turn off the news after the first two minutes.
